Info Days held in BFC municipalities and cities

For the past 2 months REDAH, as Technical Secretariat of BFC SEE Network of Federation B&H, and GIZ Open Regional Fund for modernization of municipal services organized Info Days in 11 municipalities and cities in Federation B&H that carry BFC SEE certificate. Info Days were held in Bihać, Bosanska Krupa, Goražde, Gradačac, Jablanica, Novi Grad Sarajevo, Posušje, Sanski Most, Tešanj, Zenica and Žepče.The topic of Info Days was “Interaction of public and private sector through development partnerships in BFC SEE municipalities and cities”.

Together with municipal and city administrations companies that are interested were invited and presented with possibilities of cooperation with public sector through joint projects,with an aim,on the one hand, to achieve commercial goals of companies, and on the other creation of better business environment in the municipality/city.

This initiative for development of public-private cooperation was launched by Regional BFC SEE Network for a favorable business environment in South East Europe with the support of GIZ. In the framework of this project initiation and development of partnerships among public and private sector are planned through joint projects on territories of BFC SEE certified municipalities and cities.

During the Info Days the program of German government DeveloPPP was presented. The program provides targeted support for private investments and private sector involvement in local community development issues as well as support activities they belong to. Steps in the approach and implementation of this mechanism for potential investors who meet the prescribed program criteria have been presented so that development of project proposals can be initiated. The criteria that need to be fulfilled by companies from private sector, together with some practical examples that were realized earlier within the DeveloPPP program were presented as well.

The right to apply have German and EU/EFTA companies, including their subsidiary company or local companies, with ownership structure of at least 25% by citizens or companies from EU/EFTA. Companies should have at least 10 employees, 3 years of existence on the market, annual turn-over greater than 1 million euros and long-term economic interest in partner country.

In the forthcoming period, concrete works will be done on initiation and realization of project ideas in the area of the above-mentioned units of local self-government. Further promotion and presentation of the program towards potential investors is also planned for the future.
