Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Macedonia

Macedonian Chambers of Commerce (MCC) was founded in 2004 as an independent, non-political and non-profit organization that serves as an umbrella organization of eight constitutive chambers of commerce: Industry Chamber, Trade Chamber, Services Chamber, Agro-Business Chamber, ICT Chamber, Tourism Chamber, Accounting Chamber and Construction Chamber. With a number of around 1.500 members MCC represents the most perspective business association in the Republic of Macedonia. MCC is important for Macedonia because it is key element of all a well-functioning private sector.

 
With the aim of constantly increasing the competitiveness of the member companies, improving Macedonia’s business environment and expanding sales of Macedonian products on the global market, MCC has established successful cooperation with both domestic and international institutions.
 
MCC’s activities were supported by the government of Great Britain, through its embassy in Skopje, under the Agreement on the Project „Promotion of pro-business environment with the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce” signed on 26-th of April, 2006 and the Agreement on the Project  “Competitive SMEs contributing to the national economic growth” signed on 26-th of April, 2007.
 
After the successful 7-year existence, in order to meet the new challenges and the needs of the member companies, MCC has prepared and started implementing new strategy. Within this strategy future strategic directions and activities of MCC are defined. Increasing awareness towards the need for consistent changes and reforms of the economic environment is one of the main priorities of Macedonian Chambers of Commerce.
 
The target groups of Macedonian Chambers of Commerce are Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Today, Macedonian Chambers of Commerce has around 1.500 members and is recognized as one of the most prosperous and successful independent business association in Republic of Macedonia. Taking into account the fact that SMEs are the driving force of every economy and that their development in the long run lead to the strengthening of the overall economy, the efforts of MCC for development and support of SMEs are understandable.
 
MCC also provides a transparent dialogue mechanism between the public and the private sector, as well as with the civil (NGO) sector. In addition, MCC is providing value-added services to SMEs.
 
List of major projects include: AMICO - Albania, Macedonia, Italia: Collaborazioni Operative, Support of the Strategic Plan of Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Competitive SMEs contributing to the national economic growth, Mainstreaming the National Agenda CSR and others.
